Week 4 Learning Journal Entries

This week's topic has to do with the power of groups. More specifically, Wiki's, Wikipedia, and Collaborative editing. Though I wouldn't say this is uncharted territory for me and my online presence, it is definitely not something that has been well versed. Online contribution in general has been something that has been lacking from me, and I definitely could have been categorized as a Lurker before this class. I've become very good as using Wiki's, but not very good at giving back my fair share. The most significant contributions I have made have been through collaborative editing processes with work and school group, specifically the use of Google Docs, which is in a sense, a micro -wiki. This class has exposed me though to delicious, which is becoming a very useful wiki for me, and something I am also actively contributing to as well. I'm actually enjoying it due to its ease and connectivity, in addition that it is something that is categorizing and organizing my links for my own use.

For this week's post, I'm supplying a few links of some articles I've found interesting on Wiki's. The first focuses on how Wiki's are changing how students engage and represent their school through actually creating it, the second deals with how Wikis can be used to catalogue and document wildlife for conservation, and the third deals with the broad power of Wikis and how they are shaping the world. These links will also be available through my delicious account.
